They decided to just replace the case and send the same CPU, sure enough it died within 6 months. Atleast I had warrenty so I got it replaced (the only reason I buy pre builts as the warrenty can be a life saver)

  • I bought a pen drive in 2018 (USB 3.0, 32GB with OTG) from Aliexpress. And the problem was, there was a one bad sector, and that bad sector could not omitted by any software that I tried. I contacted the seller and I provided all the video evidence that they need. And all that they said was, "just a one bad sector and everything else working fine", but my problem was, that I couldn't omitted the bad sector and every time stores my data, it ended up being corrupted.

After 2 weeks they finally sent it back exactly how I sent it to them... after watching a FIstart video within 10 mins, I learned all I accidentally did was hold shift for too long which locked the keyboard to long press. Just needed to go into settings and disable it.. simple

They send me another 18 month old refurbished one!!! So I purchased one direct from the manufacturer, it was very little more and was a proper new one.

You take a bit of a loss, and you still gotta buy new drives, but at least you get the storage and performance you want.

  • In the end it's shared responsibility between Intel and AMD here imo. While watching the video I did remember quite a lot of bugs with AMD PCI gen4 implementation that had to be fixed or mitigated in enterprise products like Dell server firmware and even vmware patches. One of the many reasons I stick with Intel for enterprise grade hardware and I also remember getting a good chuckle while reading the buglists and all the AMD / PCIe gen4 entries

  • In dealing with issues like this at work, the RMA people usually have a set procedure they execute which is simply to send replacements of the same model unless other arrangements have been specifically made. The reason they do this is to try to not introduce another incompatibility in the system, such as if you were only replacing one or two drives (ideally you'd want all of them to match). Unfortunately I've been in a position where you get vendors like Intel and Gigabyte pointing fingers at each other as to who is at fault, hoping your warranty expires before any traction on the issue occurs.
